MEXICO CITY, MX (June 13, 2011)19 year-old Alejandro Capin scored his career best effort in the prestigious NASCAR Mexico Series with a third place finish at Queretaro.  Capin is a member of the Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle driver development program based in Sacramento, California which develops drivers with the potential for a career in racing.

Capin joined the RSWC program after an extensive tryout and selection process that included a Shoot-out last October.  The talented young Mexican driver races in the NASCAR Mexico Series which enjoys strong fan and sponsor support throughout the country.

Driving the #88 Quaker State TOYOTA for Autotec Racing, Capin qualified seventh around the .746 mile oval.  Teams were covering the track in under 30 seconds at over 90 miles per hour average.

capinmedium1.jpgWith good pit strategy and a fast car underneath him, Capin immediately moved forward.  Capin conserved his car over the 144 lap distance and began to press the leader with 25 laps to go.

Capin’s dash to the front was halted when he got loose entering turn one and made slight contact with the inside wall.  Despite a bent rim, Capin continued on and brought home his career best third place finish.

“We have been very good since the start of the season, so I believe that looking at the championship is very possible,” Capin said.  “We just need to work hard on finishing races in the top-ten and I believe we will be contenders by the end of the year!”

The top-three finish was Capin’s third top-ten of the season, allowing him to move into ninth in the series standings.  The next race for the NASCAR Mexico Series is June 19 at Autodromo Miguel E. Abed with a total of nine races left in the 2011 season.

“Alejandro brought home his career best finish in a race that had 33 cars and lasted two hours,” Driver Coach Ron Sutton said.  “He proved that he can perform on a big stage and that a win in Mexico is on the horizon.  I am eager to get him to the United States to continue his development!”
