PORTLAND, OREGON (May 24, 2011) – 15 year-old Keegan Walmer claimed his second straight USAC NorCal Ford Focus Midget victory on Saturday, winning a dramatic back-and-forth feature at Stockton 99 Speedway to take over the points lead.

Walmer drives the #24 K&N Filters Midget for Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle, a driver development program based in Sacramento, California.  Walmer has three USAC wins on the season with a USAC Young Guns victory also in the books this season.

The talented driver from the Northwest qualified fourth on the night with a 13.766 lap around the speedway.  After racing in the trophy dash and heat race, it was time for Walmer to get after it for the 30 lap feature.

Walmer stayed glued to Bailey in a thrilling duel, taking the lead back briefly on lap 18 before Bailey wrestled it away.  Walmer took the lead for good on lap 28 to drive away to a half a second victory.  He ran his best lap of the race on the 30th and final lap of the contest. The career-defining win gives Walmer an 11 point advantage in the USAC NorCal Ford Focus Midget standings.

Walmer also participated in the USAC Young Guns action on Saturday night, qualifying second behind teammate Trevor Hunt and falling victim to an altercation in the feature that eliminated him from the race.

“Keegan’s performance on Saturday was very impressive,” Driver Coach Ron Sutton said.  “He showed everyone he has a will to win and a determination to not give up.  Taking the lead back late in the race was a solid accomplishment!
